Sarah j. Maas has done it again. Is anyone surprised?

Bryce Quinlan has finally found her place in a world that will never accept her. Being half human-half fae in has not made Bryce very popular, but she wouldn't trade anything for the people she has. She may not love her job, but she loves her friends and she loves Cresent City. Partying with Danika, her best friend who also happens to be the alpha in a pack of shifter wolves, makes everything Bryce has to endure for being half human worth it. But Bryce's life is taken out from under her when the people she loves most are murdered while she's out at a club, sending her into a two year spiral she's not sure she can recover from. The murderer is behind bars, but Bryce can't look the other way as other murders follow the same pattern as her friends. Bryce is deeply connected with these crimes in a way not even she understands, which will lead her somehow to the front of the investigation.

Hunt Athalar, an angel enslaved for attempting rebellion against the Archangels, kills whoever his boss tells him too. Feared by all in Cresent City, Hunt's only goal is freedom from the bonds of slavery that seem too slowly be crushing him. When offered a deal he cannot resist, He teams up with an unwilling Bryce to find the demon haunting Cresent City. Hunt must do what he does best in order to get closer to his release than he has ever been.

Hunt and Bryce have everything to loose as they investigate the most powerful people in Cresent City. The unlikely pair will find themselves deep in each others worlds in order to discover what exactly killed Bryce's friends, and who sent it. House of Earth and Blood destroys all fantasy tropes, giving an entirely new definition of the genre. Sarah j. Maas knows how to give readers exactly what they're expecting.....and then take it all away. Hunt and Bryce are dynamic, unpredictable characters that are impossible not to fall in love with, flaws and all. This fantasy-plus-murder-mystery-plus-thriller is a must read, especially with the sequel, House of Wind and Breath, coming out this February 15th!!!!!!!
