what....what just happened. This five-book series took me..two weeks? Fantasy lovers should check all these books out at the same time because you'll finish before they're due.

Feyre and her family fell into poverty years ago. After her father lost his wealth, she and her sisters were forced to move into a small cabin in the poorest part of their village, receiving help from none of their wealthy family friends. Feyre, the youngest of her sisters, was forced to go into the woods and hunt to keep her family alive. Every time she goes out into the woods, she is keenly aware of how close she is to the wall. The wall was supposed to be an impenetrable force to separate human lands from Prythian, but more and more horror stories are being spread in the village about the monsters that are sneaking through.

"We need hope, or we cannot endure." --Chapter 2

Prythian, the lands of the Fae, have been sealed off for five hundred years, but that has never stopped the humans from whispering about them. Feyre doesn't just fear them though, she hates them. She hates the humans that worship them at the market, she hates hearing of people going missing in the village, and she hates having to spend money on ash arrows and iron to protect her family--especially when she knows the weapons will be of no use. So when she sees a large wolf in the woods--too large to be anything but Fae--she doesn't hesitate to draw her ash arrow. The animal that could feed her family for weeks comes at a cost, though, and Feyre will have to pay off the debt in Prythian. High Lord Tamlin will take her to the land she knows no human has ever returned from, to serve his court.

Feyre is heavily guarded in the Spring Court, where she is given everything she could have ever wanted, except her freedom. Because Tamlin, the wolf figured Fae whose human form is obscured by a mysterious mask, needs her there. She must figure out what happened to the cursed court before it is too late, but Feyre is equally in the dark about the powerful forces that are working against her. Hatred turned to passion will put Feyre back in the position she knows well, tasked with sacrificing herself for the people she loves.

"Be glad for your human heart, Feyre. Pity those who don't feel anything at all."

A Court of Thorns and Roses is easily one of the best fantasy series I have ever read. Possibly the very best, rivaled only with Victoria Aveyard's Red Queen. No first impression in this book should be trusted. The ACOTAR series is perfect for any lover of fantasy and romance. This three-book series is accompanied by a wholesome novella and a fifth-book spinoff that includes all of the original characters. There are very few spinoffs I have ever enjoyed, but Maas defies my expectations again with A Court of Silver Flames.

Please, do yourself a favor and have the next book in the series on hand, you won't want to wait to see what happens next.

No first impression in this book should be trusted.

RATING: 5/5 !!!!!!
